Hey hey ho!

My much-anticipated moment.

The prefect-librarian annual dinner.

My first on-stage performance in a band.

Honestly, I've been waiting soooo long for this moment, after a week of fun training.

So, today our band went for the band meet again - which starts at 2.30pm. Brought a bass guitar - which belongs to OrangeJuice, and we started rocking ourselves at Cat's house.

The true problem, however, spawns when we were planning on how to bring our instruments to Win Pin Court - a large electronic piano, a cumbersome drum set, two amplifiers, an electric guitar, a bass guitar, an acoustic guitar, and of course, there're the microphones, the cables, blah blah blah..

Our initial plan was to ask Shelhiel's mom for transportation help - till we saw his car, a Kancil. Point taken, plan dismissed.

Next plan - for ME to DRIVE Cat's Mazda there, bringing the drums one by one. Still, couldn't deny the fact that we couldn't move the super-large electronic piano. Plan dismissed too.

Cat was getting more and more anxious by every passing minute. Symptoms? Her talking speed was getting faster and faster, and her gabbles were accompanied by agitated movements. All of us asked her to calm down, but well - didnt work. No matter..

Our next plan!

Cat phoned a lorry-transportation-service, and the lorry driver was here in like, 10 minutes later. Fitted all the instruments safely inside, and we were relieved - first part of our problem solved.

After no preparation, we made our way to Win Pin Court, for some early preparations, setting-ups, etc. Reached there at around 5.30pm, and we were all complaining about the small size of the stage - hardly enough for drums, a piano, a few amps and two guitarists.

Finally reached a decision, and our layout was like this - Drums on-stage; Piano off-stage.

I won't explain in detail about our preparations from 5.30pm till 7.00pm - we were just rechecking our performances, correcting errors, stuff like that.

7.00pm arrived - dashed back to Cat's house, did a quick washup, and returned to the restaurant again. Ignored the "receptionist", who was managing the present-exchange affairs. No matter again, i don't mind not getting a present anyway, haha..

The dinner started, with of course the usual "ceremony-opening-speech" by the teacher-in-charge. Didn't think many were listening to her - most of us were taking peeks from time to time at the dishes served on our respective tables - hot and fragrant.

Was unto my second swallow of my food when the MC called for us - our band.

(Speaking of our band, i think our name was supposed to be "Banana Chapalang Band", suggested by Shelhiel, luckily no one agreed, XD)

Hardly time to brace ourselves. Gulped down another few extra spoonfuls of food, and we finally started our song - When You're Gone by Avril Lavigne.

Wasn't confident during the whole song. Kept worrying about me mis-playing the tabs, so i was fully concentrated on looking at my fingers - didn't really look to the crowd, the audience, sigh. Wasn't the only one, though. Jailman was the same, he said he was nervous too, XD.

Realised our mistake through videos taken by friends down-stage. Shelhiel gave some encouraging words to us all - something about enjoying ourselves, FEELing the song instead of just playing it, and eye-contact with our audience.

Our 2nd and 3rd performance was on the final part of the dinner - where it was 10pm, kinda late because of the time-consuming lucky draws.

2nd performance was quite okay - Teardrops On My Guitar by Taylor Swift, with me being acoustic, Jailman being electric plucking, Shelhiel being soft drumming, and Megan being vocalist.

3rd performance was QUITE okay (that means it isnt really okay..) - The Best Damn Thing by Avril Lavigne. Roster : Jailman - Electric, Me - Bass, Shelhiel - Drum, Cat & Megan - Vocal. The "down" of this performance was that we couldn't find the second mike, that means Cat & Megan had to share one mike. Needless to say, our instruments were okay, but Cat & Megan's voices were drowned out.

The Best Damn Thing ended tonight's dinner, and the guests started to leave. We packed up our instruments, loaded them up the lorry we hired previously - it costed RM20 total.. We hopped up in the cargo area of the lorry and started to shout like hell, while enjoying the cool night air at the same time.

Couldn't say it wasn't fun, though our performance during practice sessions were definitely better. Still, i'm glad Shelhiel gave me a chance to be a bassist for the band - I like the way you give people chances.

Looking forward to a band competition this Saturday night, would probably be in the same band again, but we're not sure still.

Today's a happy day for me - because of some incidences which i'd rather not speak about.

Photos (and probably videos) of tonight's dinner might be posted up later, have to beg for them from friends first.

Food, I'm fat!

Foodie foodie food!

Never thought that i would post something like this, but here goes:

Since the move-in of the Cheong family, i've been a lucky neighbour - lucky in terms of getting free food sent over from Mrs. Cheong, much to my stomach's pleasure!

Here're some of the things she made:

Top of the list is..

Spaghetti!

Well, the spaghetti she made wasnt really.. "awesome", but okay all the same.

My comment? Her spaghetti needs more tomato paste! No, im serious - to me, tomato rocks! XD btw, plenty of frankfurters, mushrooms, and a lot of cheese would content me too..

The-weird-rice

Oookay, so i don't know what exactly they call this, its some kind of.. Rice, immersed in some kind of greenish soup - the green colour comes from the veggie that's in the soup too, some kind of ulam-veggie if i'm not mistaken.. a mixture of many kinds of other healthy things, and some peanuts (optional).

Didnt appeal greatly to me, but according to her, it was supposed to be good for our health. So i was like "..whatever.." and gulped it all down.

龟灵膏

I know, many people could make this too, but it isnt everytime the jelly would walk right into my house for free ain't it?

Mooncakes

Ahh, the time when she gave our family some mooncakes during the Midautumn Festival..

Lol, her mooncakes are.. well, "different" from the usual mooncakes we (our family) buy. Well, it isnt the typical "filled-with-paste" mooncakes, but mooncakes filled with a mixture of almonds, nuts, other nuts and many other what-nots.

Can't say i loved it, but it was kinda fun having something out of the ordinary - for me.

Some other buns and so on

She gave us some buns she made too. Filled with kaya, filled with lotus paste, you name it. None superior than the ones my aunt makes though, lol.

*****

However, i'm luckier in a way that i have 2 awesome aunts - one who specializes in Western delicacies, and another who's more into Eastern delicacies.

The Western aunt covers most of the things like pizza, spaghetti, yoghurt, cheesecake.. blah blah blah.

The Eastern aunt, however, covers chinese buns, glutinous rice dumplings, etc etc.

Not complaining about my neighbour, am i? Who would wanna complain as food can be gotten easily from just next door? Just hope i wont get too fat, muahahaha.

I'd love to post up some photos of the food (especially the "Weird-rice"), but unfortunately, no camera, so no photos. Bear with me, *wink*.

Sunday 26 October 2008

I score with my head, not with my hands.

It was a normal day for me - a day which i was gonna commit to having our performance rehearsal - till i got news that we're (me and a couple of friends) supposed to take part in our inter-class volleyball competition today.

Oh crap, what choice do i have?

Yep, i ran home as fast i could, just for a quick change from my school uniform to my PJ shirt and pants - shirt was about 3 sizes smaller for me o.o, as i got it two years ago -.-..

So, the first match of da competition commenced - with us 3.9 students versus 3.5 students. Here's the player layout:

3.5

Yeoh - a decent player who was in the school team.

Hoong - another decent player who was in the school team, short, but skillful.

Wong - was in the school team too.

CCM - a newbie, but after being refined at the Friday training sessions, plays pretty well.

Girls consisted of a girl whom i dunno her name, and Calista - oh my, anoter school team player again..

3.9?

Me of course - school team player, but lost touch from volleyball for a pretty long time.

Chee - school team player - playful, cheeky, unserious.

Ong - never saw him play volleyball, but it was not bad.

CWTan - new blood, new to the game, never served a ball ever, no matter though.

*****

Any fortune-teller would tell you the answer - 3.9 will be flattened by 3.5 - with the players of 4 to 6. Guess what, things arent they seem they would happen.

Probably their over-confidence, or probably they've lost all their skills like me, i don't know. But we seem to get more and more points - or perhaps they're losing the points themselves, lol.

Things were going "okay" for me, till Chee mis-digged a ball.

It didnt go across the net.

It went directly to my bespectacled face.

Slam! My specs was thrown off my face, and i was temporarily blind. Cheers rose up around the whole basketball court and i was imagining a scene where everyone was gawking at me. Picked up my glasses which was "out-of-tune" in guitar terms, wore it, and i continued playing with a left eye that doesnt stop leaking tears.

The rest was okay - we won, amazingly - with a score of 31 - 13.

The other classes that we faced were the same - we unexpectedly won in the following rounds too, till we finally got the first position of the interclass form 3 volleyball tournament.

Gratz to my team, this was truly - there's no other word for this: Unexpected.

And oh ya, from what i've heard from my friends after the match, the ball that slammed on my face rebounded to the other side of the net and scored us a point. Not sure about the facts though. Witnesses are free to comment.

A downhill - none of us (CWTan, LJOoi) managed to answer the Maths quiz questions in time. Doesn't matter to me though, as i can be free for my volleyball match if i werent chosen for the quiz.

Capping it all, i'd really like to thank Yimin, Mit and SRen for their cookies! XD..

(For more info, its here: http://yiminho.blogspot.com/2008/10/cookies-day.html)

Comments about the cookies?

Hmm.. It's abit on the hard side, but the chocolatey taste is awesome! Lol wont call it a "fish-food" as Eugene did. Thanks ya guys~ Looking forward to da next creation - cheesecake!

Wakaka..

Notice that i've changed the lighthouse in my blog to a dove. well, my blog's more like a heaven to me now, lol..

Catch y'all later.

Back on track!

Life's taking some upturns for me, though its still in the stress zone.

Firstly, i've been "invited" to a band by kayasakizta again. This isn't the band last time, but a band created for the annual dinner for librarians + school prefects. Looking forward to more practices and also the real performance, after i went for my first "meeting" yesterday night, situated at Cat's palace house.

Okie i really have to say this: I truly envy Catalina! XD i was simply impressed when i stepped into her palace house - her living room was a music room, i mean - probably a rock music room. Looked to the left and there was drums, amps, a bass guitar, an electric guitar; While looking to the right, there was a - what-do-you-call-that, an.. umm, electronic piano / keyboard? And surely, there were like 4 or 5 guitars. Holy moly..

Met my two other band members whom i never said a word to before - Megan and of course, Cat. Made some conversations and broke the ice, lol.

Our roster goes like this:

Drummer - Shelhiel Fong

Electric guitarist (Lead) - K. S. Teoh

Bassist - R. Y. Ho

Keyboard - Z. C. Ooi

Vocalists - Megan Ong, Catalina Chen

Songs we tried out?

The Best Damn Thing by Avril Lavigne, its played on the blog right now if ya aren't familiar with it. The first time i heard the song was when i was playing it myself, imagine that, o.o||. Would probably be the song for our performance, but still, not sure, any changes could happen.

Bring Me to Life by Evanescence, wasn't perfect because of the absence of our keyboard-player, and our lack of time.

******

I'm not going to the camp after all. Destination - Damai Park Resort is flooded according to KkLim. Camp postponed, or probably cancelled.

Guess what i found in my computer - A photo of us BracesException members. No more practices for that band till further notice :/

Abandoned

Just came back from what was supposed to be a "Frisbee Pickup" just now.

Well, you might already guess what happened again - Most of the people agreed to come to the frisbee pickup today, but again i was put down mercilessly.

"Sure, i'll come, but i'll have to go back earlier, because of my ping pong practice at night"

That was what KSTeoh said in school.

"Uhh, i'm not coming anymore, i need to have some rest for tonite's ping pong"

That was what he said when i reached our Frisbee pickup spot.

"Tonite's ping pong is cancelled"

That was what he said to THMah thru phone, after i called off the game.

I still wonder how could people get so indisciplined, lacking organization.. Couldn't he just phoned me earlier? Couldn't he?

The wound has became deeper, will only plan frisbee pickups after everyone promises to come.

______

To-do list:

Get my bum ready for the camp at Merbok (Damai Park Resort - an NS training camp).

Prepare events our class should perform - 2 events required.

Get ready for the annual dinner for us librarians and also the prefects. Planning to get a "Co-op" performance with some of the prefects.

Finish my long essay - which looks like its proper place should be in a chapter of a novel, lol..

To end it all, gratz to Lyming and Chenqi for the start of their new blogs created today! Cruelly, the blogs are both in chinese, argh~ No matter, i'd be checking them regularly too..

On a happier tone, i would like to announce that i wont be blogging / being online at all for the rest of the week! (From now till 25th October) Going for the camp i said earlier. Hope that i don't come back in pieces..

Till then.

Entrapped

Post-PMR isn't as interesting after all as to how we fantasize before our PMR..

An "imaginary reward", just to encourage ourselves, to extract the special bit of "reserved effort" stored for needed situations, for a thrust in our workforce.

"I wont touch my computer one month before the PMR, but i'll make up for those by playing everyday AFTER the PMR", so says many of my friends. But are they actually able to do that?

XD, now i come to think of it, many friends of mine are already complaining to me about how bored they are with their MMORPG games, asking me to recommend some games i'm currently playing.

My answer?

I haven't started to play games yet, i'm still busying myself with some online stuff - Blogging, blog-designing, chatting, etc etc. However when all the dust settles down, i might think of having a peek into the entrance of the gaming world once again.

Games which i plan to make a return to:

Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare Multiplayer

Geez i miss this game! XD sadly none of my friends could play it - either they hate FPS games, or they couldn't support the game, poor creatures. Whoever's playing this game, or fulfilled the system requirements, interested in playing but doesnt have the game itself, give me a tinkle, and hand me your external harddrive. The ISO file before installation uses a whopping 6.26GB.

For those who have the game already though, add me in Garena (ID: GlacialZ) and i'll be in CoD4 Malaysian Room 1.

Call of Duty 2

Weird me, playing CoD4 BEFORE CoD2, but that's how it is.. Gonna enjoy the single player first, heard it was fun - according to arc. Gonna try trusting him, but still, dun think i'd like it as much as CoD4 though, seeing as i prefer present-time-weapons.

GTR-Evolution

Some kind of racing simulation. Didn't try it out yet. Might do so after pwning CoD2.

______

Quite a year indeed. I've changed from a MMORPG fan to a MMORPG critic. Looking back now, i start to think that all the time wasted on MMORPG was.. well, wasn't worth it. As fat and arc said - no skills needed, just a boring life and plenty of time to spend farming. Starting to spread the news about that among my friends too.

At the same time, things go downhill in school - scoring a 7 in the Richter scale of boredom.

Usual teachings were stopped, our textbooks returned, and the school started to plan some "programs" for us Form 3 students.

What we got today was some students from Despark Auto Academy, where the intro was some geeky guy driving his Subaru Impreza into our school compound. Displayed a turbocharger in the hood, but the rest wasnt really interesting after all.

However, there's still frisbee, badminton, volleyball, a camp i took part in, and our Form 3 mini talent-presentation that i will - to put it in a nice way, "look forward to".

And, quoted from Yimin,

"man...call somebody to publish blog....bored with this situation...haha..."

Indeed, im now checking whether anyone updates their blogs nowadays.

Seems not.

Bye, gotta sleep.

Saturday 18 October 2008

Tension gives way to relief!

Bang! And the dust is gone!

The flame of my soul rekindles at last!

I am, of course, talking about the post-PMR euphoria that i - probably all of us F3 students too - are having right now.

Didn't get on my computer for the entire period of the exams, testing my own self-discipline o.o||. I could probably say that it worked well, hehe.

Here comes a quick summary of how i felt / what i did while i was on "vacation":

Before the exams

Kept hearing words like

"Pasti boleh sapu all A de la.."

and

"Got all your preparations ready le rite?"

My response was always the same - an awkward smile, without a verbal reply. So far, both of my siblings got straight As for their PMRs, and i'm not quite sure if i could walk the same path..

And oh ya, i went for my grandma's (my mother's side) birthday on Sunday night. Poor thing, she got Alzheimer's disease..

Day One

Got Malay paper one and two today. Thought it was moderate - a bit hard, yet appropriate for me. Gave my friend a cork for goodluck - Got the tip from my sister last time, XD.

Day Two

Everything was fine with the papers today - Science and English (Papers 1 and 2 respectively), but i was roasting during the noon. Decided then that i hate noon papers, lol.

Science, science.. It was easy, but now im worried about Malaysian question-setting standards.. Ask some teachers, they'll agree with me - the questions are way dumb and weird.

Day Three

I've just realised that i've been sitting beside a cool person (in more correct terms - a freak!). Guess what, she's been using a correction tape for EACH Paper two (So that's total 3 correction tapes for BM, BI and BC). Quite amazing how someone could use 3 correction tapes in 3 days while i could only manage 1 correction tape in one whole year.

Maths was way too easy. History was manageable, but i messed up some facts though. Hopes still high.

Day Four

"Happy birthday to you".. Indeed, my birthday coincided with the subject i fear the most - Chinese. Got some cards (In the plural) again from Inn, some red packets from aunt and mom, and plenty of wishes from others.

Chinese.. lol. If only you could see my Chinese calligraphy writing, its as if i was sitting on a bull writing my calligraphy - I was soo crappy nervous. Felt that i did not bad in my essays, but wont expect an A. Well, we all wont.

After school, Kelvin Low asked me for a "reminiscence-walk" back in primary school. Gladly, i agreed. Oh holy, how my old school changed. New paintworks, new ornaments, new whatever-the-things-are.. Weirdly, none of my past teachers seem to know me, till i tell them my name, XD. No doubt, im changed too.

To cap it all, i've received an sms from my aunt, telling me that i've got a "Distinction" for the University of New South Wales - Computer Skills test. Quite happy, but i dunno, should've gotten better.

Day Five

Nothing interesting happened in today's test, unless you count the collective cheer by us at the end of the exam.

Finally, got myself back into frisbee! Went for the pickup again at Jubli Perak, and pwned again! Lol, however, a few girls just quitted the team, and i don't think i'll let them rejoin anymore.

=== End of PMR ===

On regular updates, here're some of my PhotoShop creations again.. Haha..

A new ambigram of my name, better graphics than last time..

[And my newest wallpaper, Ultraviolet]

The wallpaper doesnt look quite good, XD. Whatever, just posting it up.

Oh yeah! I'm currently using 1.5mbit internet speed instead of my former 512kbit! Cheers arc!

Got bullied by Yimin to design her blog, >.<, check it out at http://yiminho.blogspot.com. Another blog i designed is http://tzeinn.blogspot.com.

Future blogs designed by me will have this sign:

That's all, adieu!

Sunday 5 October 2008
